A lot of the guests at this, or any other airport hotel, may not be native English speakers, but they may wish to use English as a medium of communication. This may advantage English speakers, but some sort of lingua franca is needed for international travel. It is a lot easier for hotel staff to learn a few words of English relating to their profession than it is for travellers to cope with the dozens of languages they may encounter in transit stops at airport hotels.
