Sheraton is also the main brand of Starwood and they also have the most locations. Westin is the "modern luxury" brand and have newer properties. Both brands are somewhat in the same class, but they differ in style and demographics more than anything else. W Hotels are another completely different animal, but I won't go there in this thread. It is my opinion that neither Westins, nor Sheratons, nor W's are luxury brands. I do agree with the rest of your comments though.
