They did not have to have the card out but she did strongly recommend it repeatedly and did insist complete attention during her speech, even stopping several times for those passengers that started talking to their seat mates! It was hysterical, "Please, you need to pay attention to this!" she would say to the errant party.
She also gave a little informative speech about the plane and repeatedly encouraged us to visit the Bombardier Mnfcting plant somewhere in Canada.
I might note, she was very professional and efficient.

This vision of a F/A begging the passengers to pay attention is kind of funny. I don't care who looks at me while I'm doing my thing up there. Frankly, I find it just a little embarassing to be up there with everyone staring at me, but I do understand the importance of the demo.
