This is the crucial part of the deal as the whole itinerary would be shot if Amtrak and CO exchanged info. On one hand, there's no way to verify the actual riding of the train since the conductor checks tix by hand.. but if you never ticketed the train itinerary at the kiosk, then at least Amtrak would know.
How does the actual ticketing work after purchasing this on CO.com ? Presumably it's an e-ticket but you will have to re-checkin at CO after getting off the train, right ? If so, then I guess it's safe enough to skip the outbound train segment.. as you can see, I'm still a bit nervous about it. $140 is a fab deal though (ZFV-BOS)!
For me, coming from NYC, it would be helpful if they did Stamford-EWR-BOS or New Haven-EWR-BOS, as I would then save one-way fare on the AAirtrain. Only Philly station is pricing out nicely, tho. Go figure.

At EWR, checkin for the flight to BOS (there is NO info exchanged b/n CO and Amtrak that you didn't take the ZFV-EWR train). </font>
