Thank you for the restaurant perspective. For the coupon, I don't think most places would bother. with the process you described. If the restaurant did take the necessary steps, you could still submit the receipt as I did the one time I used a coupon, and you might get the miles. I don't know what the process is when a receipt is submitted to Idine, but I imagine it would give one another chance for laziness to assist in one getting miles.
As for the +6 table, all the info I've seen says that this is no longer a restriction on the UA program. If I didn't get miles for such a transaction, I'd submit the receipt for credit as I see nothing about this in the terms & conditions, and the one phone call I made confirmed that this was no longer a restriction. In contrast, the coupon restrictions is in the terms. The only restrictions regarding groups are that you dont' get miles if your bill is over the $600 limit, or if you've negotiated special pricing for your group.
