Well, I haven't gone to Denmark for such purchases, but I was once dragged by Swedes to Germany for just such purchases ... all paid for by ATM-withdrawn cash and/or using the ATM/credit card at the stores.

yes, only scandinavians regard buying cheap booze a perfectly valid reason for a trip to another country. All though i think someone in new england said something similar about new hampshire?
but back on topic: use the ATM, best rates, but beware of the percentage on forreign exchange that your CC charges, they vary a lot, and if you travel significantly some small percentage can make a difference
