Travel Policy

After 8 years of 180-200 nights away from home on business and 150k miles per year I can say that travel policies are written by those who are least affected by them.

If the expectation is that I arrive EWR at 2:30 a.m., travel an hour home, try to unwind to get to bed by 4 a.m. then be expected to be at work by 11:00 a.m. I can tell you that I would be looking for a new job. I might feel differently if this were a 1-2 times a year thing rather than 1-2 times per week.

My companies' policy is that I be at work 12 hours after arriving home. Anything after 2:00 a.m. is negotiable, there is usually work I can do at home the following day.

Travel is work
