Her preference for Y is purely based on many pax who are obnoxious bores, and I may say as an EXP with 5MM miles, most of them are in J or F. I see them all the time. My wife knows the pax are unhappy on AA because of the cutbacks in food and amenities. Some FAs are bitter because of pay cuts and I guess I can't blame them but its the nature of the industry. As for pax who don't like AA for what it is, I say go ahead and switch. Based on what I read here, not many are leaving and if the ones who do are those that pay a deep discount fare and upgrade, they won't be missed. The only superior 4 and 5 star airlines you mention are the Asian carriers. If you want to fly BA to Europe, there are plenty of flights. By and large AA isn't all that bad but its an unfair comparison to Cathay or Singapore.
Yes, I do. In fact, I will never fly AA to Europe when I can get a better value for my F ticket on BA or Swiss. Also, whenever I can, I try to fly to Europe from JFK to FRA using SQ F.
