Why Have A320's At 156 Seats-Not 150?
JetBlue's wonderful new E-190's will have exactly 100 seats in JetBlue's configuration, and thus, because of FAA rules will only require 2 flight attendants, yet JetBlue's A320's have 156 seats which means the aircraft requires 4 flight attendants. This begs the question, why have the 6 extra seats which probably won't be filled anyway, and that just require the airline to add an extra flight attendant. EasyJet found that out and has removed 6 seats from their cramped A319's to get a total of 150 seats for that exact reason. JetBlue could increase passenger comfort, decrease weight, and save money with this change. Even though the airline has load factors in the 90%ish range, wouldn't this change be worthwhile?
