I just received this offer of five months of NWA Silver Elite Status as well, apparently courtesy of my Marriott rewards membership.

*Fly 2 qualifying roundtrip flights and earn Silver Elite status.
*Fly 5 qualifying roundtrip flights and earn Gold Elite status.

*P, F, J, C, Z, Y, S, B, M, H, Q, L, T, or K

I'll have my first flight with Northwest coming up soon so this seems to be a very good promo to sign up for despite the current financial issues surrounding Northwest.
