From what I understand the plug is universal on the airplane side of things. I bought one when I was travelling overseas regularly. It was a life saver. The typical flight to the UK was atleast 6 hours and my battery had a max life of 2 hours. I could work three times as much which more than paid for itself in one trip.

I bought mine at CompUse for about $100. I got the one that has the interchangeable tips. If i had bought the one specially designed for my laptop (which is cheaper) I would have been SOL when I got my new laptop that had a different connector.

The bad thing Continental doesn't have EmPower ports on most of the domestic fleet. I have been going to Seattle weekly and the flight is longer than my battery life
