Barely a 3star in Europe or US, but nice island, and very inexpensive.

For sightseeing, there is the island of Agilika, which is as worthy as many sights to see, although I cannot imagine your group being up to sightseeing after the flight from US and the roast through ABS.

We were there in Jan, temps in CAI & LXR got to the high 40's at night(nobody told us we'd freeze in Egypt), and ABS had to be over 100 when we left at around 11-12.

I think a decent agent in CAI could arrange car and driver for you in ABS. I do not recall seeing a single private vehicle around the airport, which was cordoned off, and full of military people and vehicles, and the EgyptAir busses. No charter busses in view

There are a couple of hotels in ABS that are 3 miles from the airport, so there must be some kind of transportation for hire.
