Transferring Marriott points into AA is still allowed; in fact, it is encouraged by AA because they ran a promo earlier this year with a 20% bonus.
Are you saying that the other way 'round (AA -> MR) used to be allowed but now isn't? I didn't know if that was ever true, but if it was I don't know why they would have discontinued it.
