Yes it's worth it
In some 500 nights over the past four years I have stayed at the same hotel only once..to accommodate a colleague who eventually cancelled. We've spent a week in Carmel at the Hyattt, ditto Key West, ditto Zurich and countless nights at HI's around the world that would otherwise have cost me cash. It's a little inconvenient for a guy and I'm sure a lot more so for a gal, but it pays off. Never had anything stolen or damaged either
