ICN-HIJ, OZ162, a321, seat: 1a

Shortly aftter completing post #1, I boarded OZ162. The front cabin featured three rows of 2by2 seating. The seats were similar to those on the 777, but were pitched tighter, and didn't have electronic controls or PTV units. They did have footrests, however, which imo represents an improvement over what I'm used to seeing on narrow body airplanes.

Aside from myself, there were only 2 other guys in the front cabin, also in row 1 (btw, there were no bulkhead cutouts, but I was too lazy to move one row back).

Shortly after takeoff, the rushed meal service commenced. The food was much wierder than on the previous segment (I didn't take the menu with me, but recall that one of the small plates was some sort of beef tongue salad) and there were no choices offered. The drink list was the same.

After 1h10m in the air, we finally touched down at HIJ. HIJ is a BUR sized (maybe even smaller I guess; only around 10 gates) airport in the mountains (actually built on a high plateau) about 40 km east of Hiroshima. The terminal is a minature version of your typical modern Asian airport (HKG, SIN, ICN, PVG, CAN, etc), but doesn't have any fancy facilities.

Moving on, I blazed through immigration within minutes of the airplane door openning. And since I didn't check any bags, I went directly to the exit/customs. Unfortunately, I was held up at this stage (which always seems to happen to me in Japan). The officer wasn't interested in my bag so much as where I live, what I do, and why I wanted to go to Hiroshima.

Anyway, after 10 minutes of questioning, he openned the magic sliding doors for me. There were only 2 people on the other side, one of whom was my girlfriend. We walked no more than 75 feet to her car and were on the road to Hiroshima in no time.
