I think you are reading the BA tables wrong, as it is only 160,000 to HKG in J. The correct link can be found here:

The QF programme is the same as BA to NYC at 100,000 miles, but only 168,000 for the flight to HKG. Actually I was quite surprised as a business fare to SYD/MEL is 254,000 which is more than BA at only 200,000 miles.

Personally I think the BA programme is pretty good value at times and so much so that I am considering switching!
