Dsimon, are you sure that an Elite member can upgrade you if you are on a lower than B fare basis? I was not aware of this.

What type of fare are you flying on? If you are flying on a V, Q, T, S, or L fare, then this is moot. If you are on a B or higher fare, you should be able to upgrade based on the allotment of F seats.
Or, if someone you know carries elite status, they can upgrade you if you are on a lower than B fare basis, availability permitting.
We probably need some more information to help you out with options.</font>
