Well, two things:
a) If it's on the same ticket, no; and,
b) If it's on two separate tickets, do you think BD will leave your bags to rot at LHR?

No, in the EU, you clear customs upon arrival at your FINAL destination. In this case, EDI is the final destination, so gigi will clear at EDI. She has to go to the international belt to reclaim bags -- which should be located next to the domestic belts.

No worries about this if bags are through checked. If not, then yes, you'll have to carry bags yourself to T1 after picking them up off baggage belt at T3. Of course, at this point in time, you may actually have to clear customs. Though the argument could potentially be made that customs be cleared at EDI.

Even if it's on a separate ticket, AC should be able to give you a CNX BD BP. You just have to insist or find someone who knows how to do it. If not, and nobody will do it for you, Zone C has the *G check-in desks.
