I highly recommend Pacific Shaving Oil. When I first shaved, I used regular shaving cream, and got all kinds of nicks and cuts. Then I switched to electric for several years, but I hated that the shave wasn't close. Finally I tried Pacific Shaving Oil and I love it. Interestingly enough, I first tried it because I was learning to pack small for long trips, and it takes up very little space compared to shaving cream or even an electric razor.

I use Pacific Shaving Gel with a Gillette Mach 3 razor. I don't think ti matters much which razor you use, though. You can see your face while you shave, and it makes your skin very slick so you get no nicks.

When you use it, just use what they recommend: 5 drops per shave. It will seem very insignificant the first time, and you will worry about razor burn. But trust them, it works.
