What's legal and what's pratical are two different things. Also, if you're not a U.S. Citizen, you may have a longer wait thru customs.

I once had CO reservations book me CDG-IAH-SFO with only 60 minutes in IAH, saying that was "legal." I knew it wasn't practical (even as a U.S. citizen), and I only accepted it knowing there was a backup IAH-SFO an hour later. The issue was moot since I got bumped in CDG and rerouted with a healthier connection and a $500 cert.
