Back in Oklahoma ...
... but wanted to express thanks for all information, yet again. We had great weeks on Kaua'i & Big Island, and the overnight on O'ahu wasn't too bad at all (but we still don't like Honolulu - Times Square surrounded by water!).
Seems that Shell Vacations (time share co.) has some of the rooms at Renaissance Ilikai (Shell Waikiki Resort at Ala Wai). Decent studio mauka-side overlooking Ala Moana Blvd. on 13th (!!!) floor.
The amateur radio club aboard USS Missouri allowed me to operate for a few hours on Saturday, Sept. 3, which I truly enjoyed. Other than that, an evening's stroll down the beach, through Int'l Market Place and back after dinner at HRC (yeah, I know - but it IS predicatble!) and to bed.
Drove up Windward side on Sunday, enjoyed a last few hours on the beach (Lanakai) and departed AA102 to DFW early evening. Already excited about our next (so far unplanned & unscheduled) visit ...
SO, to all who gave us ideas,
Mahalo,
Deacon
PS: Noted for the first time ever that most cashiers/servers/guides/tour operators/etc now say "Thank you" instead of "Mahalo". A bit of magic lost ...
