But presumably you had plenty more room to fall in to rather than the few inches between you and the seat in front?

What you say makes sense...I guess what it comes down to in my mind is what is more likely - the need to get out of the plane ASAP during an evacuation situation vs. the likelyhood of a very rapid breaking on the taxiway and sliding forward a few inches (I was pondering my OP on a Domestic, obviously not in a huge flatbed )? If you have any stats/figures I'd be interested.

Just curious.
