Apparently nwa.com doesn't recognise my number as FB Gold. Called NW where a friendly agent explained that Flying Blue accounts do not export first names, only first initials and so the names do not match the reservations - this is true, the booking says "Alastair" while the account says only "A". Can such a ludicrous and frustrating situation be true? I can see the seats to which I'm entitled, but can't have them.
Though I have had and have serious difficulties convincing AF/KLM and FB to honour their promises and their own rules, I've have excellent help (FROM NORTHWEST!! NOT AF/KLM) on the seating issue: We booked KLM flights Q/V tkts OSL-AMS-NYC r/t on klm.com and phoned NW in the US, had them assign prem seats (front row eco - heaps of space) based on our (then AF/F+ blue) elite membership. Couldn't the NW-agt help you over the phone?
A question: What are 'IFE boxes'?
Thanks.
