I have the Delsey Helium Carry-on bag, and second the recommendation. Here's a link to eBags, which claims a weight of 7 lb 10 oz for the carry-on:

It's simple and classy, and will protect your stuff - I've thoroughly abused a Delsey hardside suitcase for 8 years and this bag for a few months and never had any problems. The only caution might be if you like using pockets on the outside of the bag - these don't have any.
