About a month ago, used CO miles for a QF trip in Feb 2004 to NZ and OZ. Went with J for two reasons: 1) Better chance of getting the itinerary I wanted and 2) QF non-stop to Auckland will be on two-class 747-400's (Business and Coach, no First). Whether the new SkyBeds will be installed versus the Dreamtime business seats at that time remains to be seen.
Itinerary is EWR-LAX, LAX-AKL, within NZ on my own, CHC-MEL, MEL-CNS via BNE, CNS-SYD, SYD-LAX, and LAX-EWR. R/T in J is 105,000 miles with one free stopover and one open jaw on either end. My itinerary has two additional stopovers, which are 20,000 miles apiece. My total deduction should have been 145,000. One day after my itinerary became official, I checked the CO website to see the deduction. When I looked, it showed only a 105,000 mile deduction. I thought to myself do I call them and point out the mistake or keep quiet. Since I was willing to spend the 145K anyway and I didn't want this itinerary cancelled because "full payment", 145,000 miles, weren't deducted, I called. The woman I spoke to said she saw the same discrepancy. She put me on hold to ask a supervisor, came back after a minute and told me it was "your lucky day". They would honor the 105,000 deduction.
So CO Domestic First EWR-LAX and back, QF International Business from LAX-AKL and SYD-LAX, and QF Domestic Business between NZ and OZ and within OZ. Not bad for 105,000.
