I explained to them that it is coming out of P class now and they said they can't even see it yet. I even gave them the exact fare code YUPPMZ which was coming up on AA.com but they still couldn't see it. Does this mean that they really aren't going to be the exact same or have their computers not caught up yet?

TO THE OP: the YUPs, in their current state, have been covered quite well here already. I will say that of my last 26 segments ALL of them have been on YUP fares! ^ My RT for my aforementioned BOS - ELP fully refundable K class normally is 717.07, A class (YUP) is 1093.16 and full Y is 1410 with F being 1600 or so. I usually pick up the YUP as it's a great deal for me and could be for you too.
I can't answer your underlying questions, but I can make a suggestion to purchase your YUP online and not worry about the AAgents. As long as you get it purchased, a seat assignment, and ticketed then it should not be an issue.

I remember when this subject first came up a week or so ago, I called the AA Around the World desk and asked whether AONEx fares would be booked into A or P class and they were clueless. Things will shake out eventually.

You may also want to follow the FT mantra, if you don't get an answer you like call back and speak with another AAgent. Please let us know the outcome. Sorry I could not be of more help.
