Just a quick update following my week-long trip to Tokyo. The Hotel Okura was very nice. I wouldn't rate it as "excellent" or a "must stay", but only because of its stark decor and general lack of noteworthiness. I found the service to be very, very good, and the property was right next to my company's office, so I give it high marks for convenience (though I know this won't be the case for everyone). I didn't check out many of the amenities or restaurants (other than the buffet breakfast), so I can't really give a comprehensive review, but I can't cite any problems at the Okura. It didn't knock my socks off, but it was certainly a step above many of the chain hotels here in the U.S. I did stop into the Park Hyatt for drinks and that property seemed impressive. I didn't see any of the rooms, but the views were worthwhile.
