But gotta ask you-Baton Rouge?I had take out once because of late arrival and it was in the same complex as the hotel(Wyndham-now the Hyatt)but I dont think I would make a point of going there.Only reason I did was late arrival and that is where the "concierge"(hah)suggested. Now I know better.
I'd never heard of Baton Rouge until the Chateau's assistant GM, Jacques Fortier recommended it right after power was restored (that first time).

We liked it - maybe it has changed since you were there; restaurants do that, at least that was our experience w/one of our former favorites, Bar-B-Barn on Guy St. between Levesque and Ste. Catherines.

Excellent ribs - KC/St. Louis style; sauce seemed to contain some honey or molasses. They were on the sweet side but not overly so and the place was packed every time we visited.

This last time the ribs were practically carmelized there was so much sugar in the sauce - it was all we could do to eat them. And, the service was awful - another departure from past experience.

So, our one-time experience w/Baton Rouge was good but Bar-B-Barn is off our favorites/recommended list.

I will say that Orchid (the Chinese restaurant on Peel) remains first-rate.

Now that we've scratched the Barn I guess we might try Schwartz's unless someone else has a favorite for smoked meat.
