25,000 will buy you a free SYD-AKL, BNE-AKL, MEL-AKL or SYD-CHC ticket. I am sure EK wont mind if you are short 10 miles - they are usually accomadating this way.

12,500 will also buy you a J-F or Y-J one way upgrade on the same routes.

The upgrades are definately worth it on the B777-300ER (77W) used on SYD-AKL and the A340-500 (345) used on MEL-AKL & SYD-CHC IMHO

Upgrading from J --> F on the A340 is definately a treat thats worth experiencing, especially if you have miles to blow.
