I fly mostly transcons BOS-LAX-BOS and when I am asked to switch from a seat I like, I ask if they could ask someone else first, if no one else volunteers I will then switch. The one time I did not, I had the party asking me to switch give me dirty looks the whole flight and made me very uncomfortable.
