I didn't see it, but it sure would have caused some palpitations, at least at first, if I had.
It is clear that New Yorkers who have been closely touched by the 911 attacks (like dsimon and this writer) would have a different perspective on something like this.
I think that the poster from San Diego who states that it is "too bad for the panty waists who are making an issue out of it" is out of line on this matter even tho he is accustomed to big jets coming in low over his head all the time.
On another note, when First in Class posted "Low altitude, flying over the Hudson, the New York skyline was magnificent," he/she was writing about an approach to EWR 29 that is used in certain wind conditions. It doesn't happen too much, but is certainly a treat when it happens.
