I've stayed here a couple times on priceline bids. It's about a 15 min walk up the road to the Crystal City Metro stop (and there are shops and restaurants underground there). Alternatively, the hotel runs regular shuttle service over to DCA (5 min drive) and you could easily catch Metro there if you didn't want to walk.

Should add that the Pentagon City Metro stop is just one station away, and there is a huge shopping mall there, as well as a movie theatre (and even a Coscto), if you got tired of playing tourist.
