I wasn't counting on getting an upgrade, but it certainly is a nice thought. It never hurts to learn how things work and especially has been interesting this time. The level of knowledge and expertise that people have shown in this thread has been nothing short of astounding.

Actually, this brings up one other question. Since the airlines have implemented their use it or lose it rules, have the number of no-shows dropped? For example, this flight is 215/200 in coach. Before the new rules, would they have oversold it more expecting more no-shows?
