ALmost the identical thing happened to me on August 3, except I arrived at the front desk about 7:15 am. Upon hearing that my upgraded suite was not yet ready, I opted for a club room, actually all I wanted to do at that point was shower and sleep. Didn't need to show my SPG Plat card, as they already had it on file.
