According to an article in "Der Spiegel", LH has bigger poblems with the new business-class than known. An internal memo says that especially the new IFE still is not working properly. Malfunction of the computer-System and the Screens can no longer be considered as starting-difficulties. In march 2005 some completely new malfunctions started that LH Technicians have no explanation for. Now a team of specialist are supposed to simulate those problems in a laboratory in FRA. Until they find the reasons, the refitting of airplanes will be delayed. The manufacturer of the system has to come up with a renewed version. In the middle of September the Lufthansa Vorstand will decide wether the system will be exchanged or a new supplier has to be searched.
They not only have trouble with the IFE, also with the seat itselve ! I have been 4 flights in new "C" A346/A343, and on all flights there was minimum 1 seat not working. On my return from DXB-MUC it was my seat which was broken in that way, that the elektric was not working after 1h. ! They needed 30 minutes to fix the seat in an upright position manual. And there was no empty seat available to change. I did not complain, because it was a dayflight and the crew was so helpful and in the end I got 2 bottles red wine, but if this would happen on a night flight to or from BKK and you get your seat not in the sleeping position, I would be very angry. And this LH can not solve with a 10k milage offer.
On all flights they had to restart the IFE on many seats twice and more often.
