Hilton Morumbi report
I just left this property and was pretty impressed with it. It is far from the Intl airport, and the taxi's are pretty bad for a latin american country ($35-$40US).
I had reserved a room on the Hilton site a few weeks back. $120US plus tax. I was arriving early (9am), and wanted to have an early checkin after 12 hours of flying.
When I checked in, the desk didn't seem to have my Hilton Gold status, and just asked if I was a HHonors member. I've never had this happen before, but gave them the details. I was totally tired, and didn't request an upgrade. I figured I'd get it if they had it. No upgrade.
I get to the room, and a few minutes later the bellman is there with my luggage, and another guy is there, giving me a new room key. He gives me a free bottle of water and tells me that my key will now work for going to the Exec lounge.
I was exhausted, so slept for 6 hours or so. When I woke up, I checked out the exec lounge, which was just starting it's happy hour (5:30pm, I think). Free booze, and finger food, and some nice grilled meat cubes, and some hot dogs in croissant wrappings. Very nice.
They have two computers there with internet access. If you ask, you can also bring your laptop and plug in. They have a cable there if you need it. No wireless here.
The fee for interent in your room was fairly hefty, 45 reals. I am going to Rio tomorrow and wanted to find out about the Rio Film Festival later in the month. The concierge wasn't too helpful. I asked 4 times, and they never got back to me (over 24 hours). The Exec desk clerk was super helpful, and got the phone number off the internet, called them, and gave me the info for it. Almost all the help on the Exec floor is great.
They also have a nice spread for breakfast starting at 6:30am until 10:30am. I didn't have to buy any food my whole time at the hotel! They also brought a nice little tray of pastries/deserts in the evening. Top notch.
I was also able to do a late checkout (6pm), for no extra cost. They have a shuttle bus that will take you to the local shopping malls. I got down there 5 minutes before it was supposed to leave, but it had already gone. They put me in a taxi at their expense (It was very close, maybe 6-7R), which was appreciated.
This is the nicest Hilton I've stayed in.
