Had my first BA flight since start of the the catering kerfuffle on tuesday, in CE (no availability in Y due to late notice - I wasn't complaining mind

) I picked up my deli box in the lounge, although most people in CE didn't seem to have done so - I think they were not aware of it, as the only reason I knew was that I checked the web site and asked. I don't think all of the BA staff were aware of the introduction of the boxes.
It was not too bad, considering - rather like the ET all day deli plus scones.
Comments others have made about the crew disappearing behind the curtain also apply - apart from the offer of tea/coffee, I didn't see much of them on my trip out (they were better on the return).
They also gave me £10 of vouchers, and I used these in Pret to buy some stuff. Same on my return from TXL - they gave me EUR10, and they gave all pax a carry-on bag at the gate (not just those in CE). Consequently, I actually had too
much to eat both ways - was one of those rare flights home in the evening where I didn't feel hungry when I got home. So the double-hit emergency catering gets the ^ from me
One thing did occur to me - I only spent about £7 of my tenner in Pret. I wonder if retailers are expected to honestley report actual spend to BA, or whether they get the balance as pure profit? On the other hand, the lady in the shop in TXL actually told me off for not using my full amount...
In other news, my SWMBO is going to Washington soon and her lot qualify for business travel on long flights. Despite me wanting those points for us, and being keen to offer her my new-found BA seating advice, she's flying with Virgin - mainly due to the still not right catering at BA. And I can't say I blame her.
