Question About Weight Limits on Skyteam Award Flight
I have searched for info on weight limits on a ticket that includes multiple carriers but can't find any recent info so thought it would be easier to just ask. Feel free to move if necessary. Here are the details.
Booked in June/July (before some airlines changed the limits)
Travel Dates Oct. 12-17, 2005 in coach
Proposed checked luggage is 2 bags each a little under 62 total inches and each about 60 pounds (likely will be somewhat lighter coming back). Carryon will be one small tote bag which will be light but full.
I am not elite on any carrier
Airlines travelled are:
CHA-ATL on ASA
ATL-CDG on Delta
CDG-DUS on AF
DUS-AMS on KLM
AMS-EWR on CO
EWR-ATL on Delta
ATL-CHA on ASA
If I understand correctly, I may be OK anyway since the ticket was arranged before recent changes to the limits. So my question is whether I will likely have to pay for overweight luggage on any of these carriers. How would they do that anyway (for example, if I was over the CO limit but not the Delta limit). I would assume any weight limits would be based on the first airline used on each day's travel but who knows?
Also to a lesser extent, how picky are the airlines likely to be on size and weight? For example what if I am only 2-3 pounds over the limit on one bag. I would be curious as to how picky they are about luggage size too. I just got a new piece of luggage but it is a 30 inch trolley and it totals about 64 total inches depending on how the wheels are counted which extend a little. For now I am planning on leaving it at home but would use it if not likely to cause problems.
Thanks in Advance!
