I cant speak for CO, but I remember the smoking sections of years ago. On Eastern's L1011s, the rear cabin was segregated for smoking and a curtain was used to keep the smoke inside that area.
However, of course the smoke and smell drifted out, so even if you sat outside that part of the cabin, you were still affected by it. The funny part was opening the curtain and being unable to see more than a few inches in front of you because of all the smoke

I would hate to be a FA working in that cabin - hence the inflight smoking ban.
I was on a NWA flight a few weeks ago that was holding for a ground stop at FLL. Some guy in FC a couple rows up was having a cell conversation that was so loud, the whole plane (I am not kidding) could hear him. In typical NWA style, the FAs didn't do a thing, even with this bozo driving everyone nuts. Finally my somewhat eccentric seatmate jumped out of the seat, walked to a position in front of mr. cell, glared at him for a few moments for extra effect, then in an equally loud voice that everyone could hear, told him to be quiet, then glared at him for a few more moments before sitting down.
If drinks weren't already free, I would have bought him one. Now the big question: if you had to choose between sitting beside someone yapping on a cell phone or smoking a marlboro, which would you choose?
