Well I've never flown anything but Star Alliance to/from/via Frankfurt so I don't know how things work at terminal 2 (used by non *A carriers).
From my own experience I can tell I once connected at FRA and my incoming flight from MAD was so late that I only had 20 mins until my connecting flight was due to leave, the FAs told the flight would wait as it was the last flight that day.
I made it, and so did my checked luggage, 20 tiny minutes, and the connecting flight still departed pretty much on time (5-10 mins late perhaps).
I was very impressed!!
