That was exactly my son's observation. He has flown enough to recognize the manifest, and calling people by name randomly. There was noone of status in his row, the f/a bypassed them completely with the H2O service, twice.
Sounds like people WITH status got good service. I guess if you know you're going to disappoint some of your passengers, the smart thing to do is keep your best customers happy rather than pissing everyone off. Sorry to see your son was affected, but it sounds to me that the crew did the right thing.
