You will have no problem signing up for a different card. Just go to the web site and pick your new one. I do this each year.

IMO if you are going to have to pay the yearly fee you should get some bonus miles for it.

Just make sure you print out screen shots of the chase web site on each page of the application showing the bonus offers. Others on this forum and myself have had problems getting chase to live up to their obligations.
