How can our energy supply infrastructure be so poorly designed that a catastrophic event in one area can have such severe repercusions for so much of the country?
According to the paper and the local news shows this morning, one station near the interstate downtown limited purchases to $10/customer and during the panic yesterday some stations that were heavy hit ran out.
I agree that given all the talk about terrorism and the vulnerability of our infrastructure over the last four years there would have been some attempt by now to reduce that vulnerability.
As I write my quarterly tax check it occurs to me that I don't mind writing the check if we can put it to good use at home -education, infrastructure, etc - but clearly we're not heading in that direction.
