Magexpect, can I jump on the bandwagon and ask for your recommendations in 5* category. My priorities would be easy access to snorkelling and diving. My preference is generally for smaller resorts and value for money does not offend my sensibilities! I'm toying with going in October. (I have been told the choice of East/West is season dependent.)

Also, does one have to grit your teeth and stump up the rack rate or can one get better deals?

I read the article in Conde Nast about 5 luxury hotels, but the informatrion was necessarily quite sketchy. A colleague went to Sugar Beach and was given the option (free of charge!) to transfer to le Touessrok for the last 2 nights. He was blown away by the resort and spoiled for life.
