Is there a causal relationship between the use of racist profiling (and more) by "security forces" and a rise in anti-social behavior, including criminality such as terrorism? I would certainly not rule that out -- and especially not universally. Didn't Israel have a big jump in the number of Israeli civilians killed by non-state actors since racist/tribalist profiling of civilians by "security forces" became more prevalent?

Maybe, but I would not be so confident that a transplanted LY security system applied to US flights would work as well as you seem to believe. FWIW or not worth, material supporters of terrorism (including a bomber) have gotten onto El Al flights out of BOM, into TLV and out of TLV -- to the consternation of India's Home Ministry -- without much of an issue. Not caught by the Indian "immigration" authorities, not by El Al, and not by Israeli authorities. Maybe they just didn't care.
Or maybe they are not truly as good as many believe.

... so you are in favor of racist profiling? I think another FTer making the point that this was window-dressing/marketing spin for the implementation of racist profiling -- inclusive of a pre-emptive laying of "defence" lines against claims of state-sponsored racism -- would be right on the mark on more than a few occassions.
