I stayed there too and had a pretty good experience. I paid $115+tax on priceline, but it looks to be often available for $105-100, but I just didn't want to mess around for a few bucks (1 night stay). Try to ask for a renovated room, speaking French probably helps... Somehow I got upgraded to an executive room or something, a bit bigger than a regular room and bathroom had a bath & shower, and WC was completely separate.
Good location for Metro and RER to CDG airport. However, Les Halles is a bit of a sketchy area at night, though I wouldn't say dangerous by any stretch.
