The RTWs that I do would be waaaay more expensive to purchase as separate tix, even without added sectors purely for the mileage. As I can add sectors I get more miles. Also greater flexibility - its all one ticket and protected, can make changes (subject to the rules and any change fees), higher baggage allowance, etc.
