My understanding is that Gap, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic and many other clothing manufacturers do their manufacturing in India. Since the clothes I bought seemed exactly like the ones in the US, and actually have the Gap or Banana Republic pricetag -- with the US dollar price, bar code, and everything else on them -- hard to imagine them not being the real deal.

But one never knows for sure.
