I don't mind the terminals or the PCs too much, but what I really think is awful about IAH is the landside terminal approach. You sneak in under the shadow of these huge, dark buildings. You can't see where you are because there are retaining walls on all sides, and whereever you get out of your vehicle, you're in gloom and shadow. It's depressing and grim -- not at all what air travel should feel like.
For an experience at the other extreme, drive out the Dulles Toll Road at sunset and hit that final curve with the main IAD terminal all lit up before you... you feel like you're gonna go flying. Driving up to IAH makes you feel like you're gonna go to prison.
