Actually, I'm in the camp that this is a great thread, and it reminds me that I gotta get back to reading FT regularly. I particularly enjoyed NJDavid's #3 argument.

I find many of the attacks on ryan here to be overdone and unwarranted. Many FTers are known to enjoy a drink or five. Ryan admitted his to drinking and realized he should've kept his mouth shut.

But he also did not deserve to be kicked off the plane without explanation, and the captain should have been willing to stand by his action and give ryan his name. (What ryan should've done is walked back to the gate and gotten the captain's name from the gate agent.)

If ryan is under 21, then, yes, he shouldn't have been drinking, but the PC definitely shouldn't have served him. Also interesting to me is that in the gambling thread reference in this one, numerous posters were encouraging an FTer to use a fake ID to gamble, yet it seems every in this thread is aghast that a minor would attempt to drink!

Anyway, someone said that, judging by his misadventures, ryan seems to be something of a dumbass. I say more power to him and to FT. We get plenty of a-holes around here (self-important or otherwise), but not many dumbasses with good stories to tell.
